Bluestones is a dynamic youth music initiative in Buchan and Banff/Buchan, Aberdeenshire, offering young people who are passionate about music and between 14 and 25 years of age song-writing, performing and recording opportunities.

During 2010, Bluestones offer three programmes that will develop song-writing and performing skills: A foundation level program that focuses on the writing and development of lyrics and an Advance level programme explores the composition of music as its main theme. The third programme train selected students from the Advanced level program in leadership and mentoring skills and enable them to provide peer support to foundation level students as mentors and junior leaders.

During weekly workshops, students learn from experts and a team of professionals to create original music that is then performed locally, regionally and as far as London. This music will be recoded to a CD due for release in December 2010.

Bluestones build on the rich local musical heritage of the North East of Scotland and offer the listener a wide range of music written and produced on home ground by local young talent exploiting their sound!
